Calling all high school seniors! Trinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo is accepting 2017 scholarship applications. Interested students who reside or attend school in Liberty or Chambers counties and who will be graduating by the end of the spring semester are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, applicants must have participated in a TVE competition within the Livestock Show, Public Speaking Contest, Home Economics or other approved activity by the Board of Directors for at least one year.

Eligible applicants must be a member in good standing of either the Texas FFA or Texas 4-H club. Other requirements but not all include SAT/ACT score, enrollment in a university, college or accredited technical school and an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. A full detail description of all the requirements is listed on the scholarship application.

The TVE Fair and Rodeo has been a supporter of the western lifestyle and continues to promote their mission through their scholarship program. In 2016 approximately $25,000 in scholarships were awarded.

The applicants will be judged on their involvement within TVE, the community, and their 4-H/FFA participation. An interview with all the individual applicants is scheduled for January 14, 2017, at the TVE Fairgrounds – Hospitality Room. There will be no make-up times/dates and is counted for 25 percent of your overall application score. If you are unable to make the Interviews, points will be deducted from your overall score.

In 2012, Scarlett Addington from Dayton was awarded a TVE Participation Scholarship for $1,000. Scarlett continues to participate and recently served as our TVE Fair and Rodeo Queen this past year and soon will be earning her nursing degree. Reid Williams of Liberty, who was awarded his scholarship in the spring, came home from college to attend the fair last month. He said, “I wouldn’t miss it, it is a tradition,” said Williams. All applications are due and postmarked by December 16, 2016. Applications can be found at the TVE Fair office or online at tvefair.com. No late or hand delivered applications will be accepted. Please mail application to TVE, P.O. Box 9047, Liberty, TX 77575 and mark it to the attention of the Scholarship Committee.
