Kodandaram doubts govt.’s recruitment figures

Calendar of recruitment to fill vacancies on a time-bound basis sought

Questioning the veracity of the State government’s statistics of job vacancies and recruitment figures, Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman M Kodandaram has demanded that the State government announce a calendar of recruitment to fill up all the job vacancies in a time-bound manner.

He was addressing the delegates at a convention of unemployed youth organised by the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) here on Wednesday.

He disputed with the recruitment figures presented by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao during his Independence Day speech in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The recruitment statistics contained the figures of regularisation of services of contract workers in State owned companies like TSRTC, he alleged.

“Regularisation of contract jobs should not be projected as fresh recruitment,” he said alleging that the final results of the recruitment test of Sub-Inspectors in police department were not yet released even nearly a year after the initiation of the recruitment process.

In addition to its bounden obligation to fill up 1.07 lakh jobs as per its assertion made in the Assembly in 2014, the State government should fill up around 40,000 posts that had fallen vacant in various government departments in the past three years.

This apart, the government should also fill up around 10,000 jobs that came into existence in the aftermath of the creation of new districts.

In all, there are around 1.80 lakh job vacancies including in various government departments, autonomous bodies like universities, State-owned companies, public sector units, he noted. Clarity still eludes on the exact vacancies of teacher posts in government schools, he said, demanding that the State government announce the specific time-frame of the teacher recruitment process.

A recruitment calendar is imperative to enable unemployed youth plan their job preparations in advance and pursue their career options, he stressed.

The contractors engaged in sand mining are being patronised and voices of those espousing the cause of underprivileged are being stifled by the persons at the helm of affairs, he charged.

He said a massive public meeting will be held in Hyderabad to highlight the issues of unemployed youth after Dasara festival.

CPI senior leader and former MLA Puvvada Nageswara Rao and others spoke.
