Kota claims maximum NEET toppers

Coaching institutes in Kota claimed to have bagged maximum toppers in NEET 2017 though Navdeep Singh of Punjab got the first rank.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted on May 7 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admissions to undergraduate MBBS/BDS courses and the results were announced on Friday.

Coaching hub Kota had sweeped the top 10 ranks in the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) entrance exam, the results of which were declared on June 15.

Allen Career Institute of Kota said their students bagged six all-India ranks (AIR) in NEET among top 10, and 12 AIR among top 20.

Institute’s director Naveen Maheshwari said their students — Archit Gupta, Manish Mulchandani, Abhishek Dogra, Kanish Tayal, Aryan Raj Singh and Tanish Bansal — bagged AIR 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10. Aryan Raj Singh was a distance learning programmme (DLP) student and other five were classroom students of Allen.

Archit and Manish were with Allen’s Indore centre; Abhishek Dogra, Kanishh and Tanish were with the Kota centre.

Allen also claimed that its students — Nishita Purohit, Anuj Goyal, Harshit Anand, Harsh Agarwal, Chhavi Harkawat and Vanshika Arora – got AIR 11, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 20.

Aakash Institute claimed to have secured six AIR in top 10. Institute’s director Aakash Chaudhary said their classroom students — Abhishek Dogra, Nikita Goyal and Aryan Raj Singh — bagged AIR 5, 8 and 9, and DLP students — Archit Gupta, Manish Mulchandani and Tanish Bansal — secured AIR 2, 3 and 10. He said their students — Harshit Anand and Harsh Aggarwal — bagged AIR 15 and 16.

Abhishek Dogra clarified that he has taken coaching from Allen and Aakash. Archit, Manish and Tanish Bansal had taken classroom coaching from Allen and availed of DLP from Aakash.

Resonance Coaching Institute claimed that its student Sankeerth S captured AIR 4 and Rakshita Ramesh AIR 41.

Career Point Institute director Shailendra Maheshwari claimed that their students — Aman Yadav, Apoorva Doshi, Monika Aakash and Sharad Mantra — bagged AIR 19, 61, 110 and 163.

Allen claimed that its 53 students grabbed ranks among top 100 and 51,000 were selected in NEET list; Aakash claimed 500 selections from its Kota centre, Resonance 2300 and Career Point 5708.

About 11,38,890 aspirants had appeared in NEET to compete for 65,710 MBBS seats in 470 medical colleges and 25,730 BDS seats in 308 dental colleges, according to the CBSE information.
