1. Ask about the goals and weak areas of each student

As we know, Planning is the first process of any business and activity to go from one path to another and at the same time understand and be ready to tackle the hurdles and problems that come on the way. In the same way, understanding the weak areas of each student will help the teachers to clear the problems and encourage them to achieve their goals. By setting clear expectations and goals, you can help your student stay focused and motivated throughout the session. It’s also important to keep track of each student and ensure they are understanding the whole session.

2. Do some fun activity and relate it to the subject

Online tutoring gets tough because of less interaction, and less engagement of students as sometimes learning the topic online seems boring. That’s why 30 out of 100 students do not engage with teachers in online tutoring. Teachers can do some fun activities or play quizzes to engage the students and relate these activities directly to the subject which will also help in reminding and learning the concepts easily.

3. Make a deadline for every single assignment

Most of the students show laziness in doing assignments and do not put 100% effort into submitting the assignment on the given date. Putting a deadline and some limitations for students in online tuition can make them obedient and punctual. For example, If teachers do not accept the submission after the deadline period, they tend to become obedient and punctual in nature and timely submission of assignments.

4. Use interactive tools and resources

One of the benefits of online home tuition is the ability to use interactive tools and resources to enhance the learning experience. Consider using virtual whiteboards, online quizzes, and educational games to keep your student engaged and interested in the material. You can also use screen sharing to show your student how to navigate certain software or websites. By incorporating interactive tools and resources, you can create a more dynamic and effective learning environment for your student.

5. Create a comfortable and distraction-free environment

Students want a comfortable and distraction-free environment and it is also critical for teachers because if the teacher won’t get a distraction-free environment they would be unable to teach. So In this case, both students and teachers need to make sure that they have a quiet and distraction-free space where no other noise or background sound comes. The things you can do to eliminate the distractions – turn off or turn your phone to flight mode only for the session period, keep the notes, study materials, and pen with yourself before the session starts and shut the door to cancel the outside noise. By doing this, both students and teachers would feel comfortable which will help in focusing and engaging during the whole session.

6. Make them feel they aren’t watching a recorded content

While watching the recorded content on YouTube, Udemy or any other learning platform, students are unable to ask questions/queries related to the topic. But in online tuition sessions they have the authority to ask as many questions as they can, and still some students are afraid of asking questions, the reason for fear can be: “What other students would think about me”, “what the teacher would think about me if I ask it again” and so on. Here is the situation when teachers should ask their students repeatedly if they have any doubts they can ask without any fear. You are not watching recorded content.

7. Encourage all for active participation and engagement

All the successful online home tuitions encourage the students to participate and engage in class, this is also one of the keys to being successful in online home tuition sessions. To achieve this type of environment in your online class you need to ask open-ended questions, make different rooms for students to participate in the activity and allow all to discuss their points clearly and calmly, this helps in the increment of collaboration, teamwork and belief in students about your teaching method. Active involvement of students in the learning process makes them motivated and simultaneously gives the best results.

8. Give weekly feedback and get feedback

Last but not least, while teaching the students it is necessary to track their success and failure in the assessments, involvements, and behavior while having the class all these things you need to convey every week with each student and generate a performance sheet for their performance last week, last month, etc. It also helps to keep your students motivated and engaged by providing them with a sense of accomplishment and recognition for their hard work. In the same way, teachers should also ask for feedback and ratings for their service and the value they have added during the online session. This helps in building trust and being truthful to each other.

Conclusion

So after digging into the depths of online home tuition, we learned about how encouragement, engagement, participation, and feedback are important in online classes. All the teachers need to keep in mind that if their students are not feeling comfortable in your class, then they must have some of the reasons due to a lack of effectiveness in your class, as we mentioned above in the article.
