Railway Recruitment 2019: New jobs announced - What aspirants should know

Indian Railways Recruitment 2019: The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of Northern Railway has invited applications from interested candidates for as many as 678 vacant positions of Station Master, Pointsman A & B, Guard/Goods, Inspector Kh, Gateman Optg & Ministerial Cadre at its official website–www.rrcnr.org. Interested candidates should submit their applications by May 9, 2019.

According to the Indian Railways notification, category-wise vacancy details are: Station Master- 61, Pointsman- 288, Guard/Goods- 238, Inspector Kh- 05, Gateman Optg- 82, and Ministerial Cadre- 04. Notably, these posts belong to ‘Re-engagement of Retired Railway Employees in Exigencies of Services’.

Age Limit: Candidate applying for the posts should not exceed 64 years of age. For more details, they should check the notification for age relaxation rules.

Selection Process: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in an interview.

Indian Railways (IR) is currently operated by the Ministry of Railways, which manages the fourth largest railway network in the world by size, with 67,368-kilometre route. The national transporter runs more than 20,000 passenger trains daily, on both long-distance and suburban routes, from 7,349 stations across India.

Indian Railways routes are electrified with 25 kV AC electric traction while 33 per cent of them are double or multi-tracked. Mail or express trains run at an average speed of 50.6 kilometres per hour.

Indian Railways also runs more than 9,200 trains daily in the freight segment, and the average speed of freight trains is around 24 kilometres per hour. Indian Railways owns locomotive and coach-production facilities at several locations in India, besides being the world’s eighth-largest employer.
