Audi offers diesel emissions upgrade for 850,000 cars

German carmaker Audi is offering a free software upgrade for 850,000 diesel cars in order to improve emissions. Audi said the upgrade would “improve emissions behaviour in real driving conditions further beyond existing legal requirements”. The carmaker added it was convinced the programme would counteract possible bans on diesel cars. In recent days, rival German carmakers Mercedes and Daimler issued recalls involving three million vehicles.
